How to cook Samphire?

The easiest way of cooking delicious samphire is to blanch a few minutes in boiling water, but steaming works similarly as well. Don’t add salt to the blanching water as the samphire is salty enough for what it’s worth. After blanching, take a stab at throwing in melted butter or olive oil for extra flavor and wealth. 

Before cooking samphire, wash them carefully and try to remove any dirt that may attach. Try to remove any roots and stems, as these are not good to eat. Separate any large pieces to ensure even cooking.

Ingredients for cooking Samphire

  • Fresh samphire
  • Fresh butter 
  • Olive oil
  • Garlic
  • Fresh lemon juice

Steps of cook samphire

  • Stew in boiling water for 5 mins. Drain, rinse. Throw in butter or olive oil. Excellent as a side to fish, sheep or prepared into a mid-year vegetable salad. 
  • Gleam with olive oil rather than butter. Throw in divided cherry tomatoes and a piece of  ground pepper. Mix everything well with your hands to draw out the tomato juices. 
  • Get a large piece of greaseproof paper or foil. Lay a piece of white fish like whiting on it. Scatter some lemon slices more than, a pat of butter, ground pepper, your samphire and a splash of wine. Wrap it up. Set on a roasting plate. Fly in a 200°C/Gas 6 broiler for 15 mins, and it’ll be flawlessly cooked through. Excellent with fresh lettuce and delicious tomato salad as an afterthought. 
  • Throw your samphire in with the pasta 3 minutes before its finishes. Drain. Throw in margarine and nuggets of roasted or tinned wild salmon.

Serving 

You can serve samphire with lemon and garlic with fish and you can also serve with roasted chicken and sauce. The sauce from the samphire can make it into a delicious meal.
